5 Strategies To Learn To Eat Moderately
Moderation: the key to healthy eating!
What does that really mean though? The trick is to create an environment that helps you seek balance and increase your awareness of your individual queues, as well as triggers.
Today we share 5 tips to help you strike a balance with your intake, while also enjoying your food.
Always serve yourself from a bag or box, if this applies
Eating straight out of a box or bag is recipe for overdoing it! Be sure to serve yourself and put the rest away.
Use a small plate
Using a smaller plate is an easy strategy to reduce the amount without feeling like you are eating less.
Slow down
The message that you are satiated takes your brain on average about 20 minutes to process. Therefore, the slower you eat, the more you allow your body to give you clear signals of when you start to feel full to avoid overeating.
Practice mindful eating
We often eat more than what we actually need for many reasons. Perhaps the portion is too large. Sometimes we mindlessly eat while distracted. Other times, we feed our emotions. Practice checking in with yourself often to be sure you’re eating for the right reason.
Create a meal plan and stick to it
A weekly meal plan will help you control calories, not to mention food cost. Make a list of ingredients needed and shop only for those in order to stick with the plan and avoid having tempting foods around that are not so beneficial for you.
